LaMar Maison is as unique as my name Stephen LaMar. The spelling of LaMar is simply a stylistic variation of the more common Lamar. What sets it apart is the origin of the name. The core origin is Old French and was given as a surname in Normandy (France). It was given to people who lived near water, such as a pond, marsh, or small lake. So, the most direct meaning is: “from the water”, or dweller by the pond. I’ve always been curious as to why my mother spelled my middle name in such an unusual way. Being born in Louisiana where there are many French (Cajun) and an abundance of ponds, lakes, rivers, bayous, wetlands and Gulf coast. LaMar in a poetic sense, just isn’t about “water”, but I come from a place where water defines life, culture, and identity. Louisiana has deep French roots (especially from French settlers and Acadian/Cajun history). While my name may not be directly French, my environmental and regional heritage lines up very closely with origin. Because of the water connection, LaMar is often associated with qualities like: calmness, depth, adaptability, and strength beneath the surface. The qualities describe many of the characteristics in me as a person and is very much part of LaMar Maison (The House of Lamar). LaMar Maison is a luxury home floral and fragrance boutique rooted in the elegance of French minimalism. Every product, surface, and word is crafted to evoke understated beauty – a sense of quiet opulence that transforms everyday living into an artful experience. Our guiding principles are: Refinement.
